Renovation of Centurial Enning Lu Community will be presented as a major bidding project of the coming Business Co-operation Tour to Hong Kong of Liwan District Government, as announced at the press conference for the tour in Guangzhou on March 20, Guangzhou Daily reports.

1,539 old houses of the present 1,965 are to be deconstructed for redevelopment in the community renovation plan, the largest scale renovation of its kind in the history of the district.

It is the first time for Liwan Government to involve old town renovation in its annual business tour to Hong Kong. It is also a venturous effort for the government to introduce non-government investment to comprehensively renovate old town communities.

Enning Lu Community, near famous Shangxiajiu Shopping Street, has a history of some 100 years and spans 1,115 meters in downtown Guangzhou, featuring more than ten cultural and historical relics.

The Liwan culture authorities have located and registered thirteen relics, including the Ancestral House of Bruce Lee and Bahe House of Cantonese Opera, in the community and submitted a proposal to protect them in the coming renovation. The district government has agreed primarily to protect seven relics in the renovation zone.

The buildings along the main road in Enning community will be maintained as much as possible, as will the Qilongs, traditional Cantonese architecture, in the renovation.
