According to a press release dated March 5 from the Yuexiu Division of the Urban Planning Bureau of Guangzhou Municipality, the Yuexiu District is starting a 70 million RMB investment and planning project for the Xin He Pu area. Xin He Pu, following the concept of Sha Mian, will become a reservation designed to preserve Guangzhou's traditional dwellings and which will serve as another window to show the Lingnan architecture and traditions to tourists.

The Xin He Pu Reservation will cover a planned area of 62.9 hectares and 493 historic buildings including 7 Municipal-level reserved buildings and 1 Province-level reserved building (the location of the 3rd National Congress of CPC). Most of these buildings are detached houses of characteristic red brick walls, stone tiles and western structure.

It's said that new streets and bystreets are planned to improve traffic in the reservation. One parking lot will be opened inside the reservation with 150 parking places and two parking lots will open at the neighboring Junyi Road and Dongshan Lake Park with a total of 280 more places.

In addition, in its consideration for street planning, the project will include street vegetation adding more grass and trees to the reservation.

The planning of Xin He Pu Historic and Cultural Reservation was completed at the end of last year and the project will start right away once the supervising authorities approve the drafted scheme.
