Sacred-heart Cathedral at The Final Stage of Maintenance

Experts from Beijing and local authorities examined the repair work on Guangzhou's Sacred-heart Cathedral today.

The church, which is the Largest Gothic Stone Cathedral in China, began repairs in 2004. At this morning's examination meeting, Director of the Cultural Relics Department of Guangzhou Culture Bureau, Liu Xiaoming, said the Guangzhou Government has invested over 20 million yuan into the Sacred-heart Cathedral restoration project.

Vice-President of the Beijing Palace Museum, Jin Hongkui, said, 'My overall feeling for the restoration is quite good. It doesn't change the original structure. It restores the building's architectural design.'
