International brands like Adidas, Nike, Esprit and Only met quality standards, but carcinogenic compounds called aromatic amines were detected in brands like Etam and Snoopy.

The report said some of the clothes tested contained up to 255mg/kg of aromatic amines, more than ten times the allowed limit. Most of the toxic compounds resulted from dyes used in the production process.

The National Fundamental Safety Technical Standard For Textiles strictly prohibits the use of dyes that generate carcinogenic and toxic aromatic amines.
