Waterbuses to Be Launched

Updated Beijing Time

Source: english.gz.gov.cn

Due to the ban of motorcycles in Guangzhou, more buses and ferries will run to provide convenience for citizens. The waterbus draft will be open for comments on January 23, said the Guangzhou Passenger Management Office. The first waterbus route will be: Fangcun- Tianzi Dock (Nanfang Biulding)- Sun Yat-Sen University.

The situation of the Pearl River banks and docks and passenger flow are discussed in the draft; relevant analysis has been done. In the past ferries only carry passengers across the river; now waterbuses will also carry passengers to docks along the same side of the river.

According to the midterm plan, waterbuses are to connect Yuan Cun, Zhujiang New Town, Panyu, Luochongwei and Jinshazhou in the future. Since there are no docks in some places, comments and suggestions on the construction of waterbus facilities are welcome.
