Efforts to Renew Old Urban Areas in Liwan District

After the "central area adjustment" strategy was released by the municipal government, the development of old urban areas is of great interest to the members of the Guangzhou People's Congress and the People's Political Consultative Conference of Guangzhou city.

How to implement the strategy in the old urban areas of Liwan District? Liu Ping, Secretary of the Liwan Committee of the Communist Party of China, recently unveiled a detailed plan and put forward the following guidelines to promote the construction and management of the old urban areas.

Layout adjustment. The Liwan District government will formulate a district plan, including the development of key areas, and a plan to reserve land for public use;

Infrastructure adjustment. To improve the traffic flow in the urban area and traffic access to the west part; to assist related agencies in implementing the Ruyifang Bridge project, and the construction projects of Facun Da Road, Longxi Road, Huadihe Dongan Road, Heping Xi Road Extension and Fuzhou Road; to complete the water discharge project of Fengyuan residential area, Sanya Yong, Jielongli, Tongjie and Dongqi;

Adjustment of the urban areas renewal plan. Over half of the dangerous and old buildings in Guangzhou are located in Liwan District. According to the principle of "encouraging private investment under government guidance", to promote the renewal of old urban areas; the dangerous and old buildings on Enning Road have been chosen to pilot new measures

Environmental construction adjustment. The Liwan District government will improve the environment of the banks of the Pearl River, the inland river net, and the Datansha Island, and promote the construction of Longjin Square, Xiguan buildings and Bahe Hall;

Management adjustment. To establish a long term urban management policy; to carry out management in residential areas through "unified actions, concerted operations, clear responsibilities & rights, and efficient control" .
