Guangzhou Bans Motorcycles

Updated Beijing Time

Say goodbye to motorcycles in Guangzhou. [Guangzhou Daily]

The Guangzhou municipal government has ordered the banning of motorcycles in urban areas from Jan.1.

From Jan.1, police have set up 30 posts to enforce the ban and speak to any motorcyclist ignoring the new rule. From January 16, any motorcyclist found riding on the city's streets will have his motorcycle confiscated.

The banning will greatly inconvenience residents as the motorcycle is one of the most popular methods of transport.

The city government has promised to build more public transport lines as soon as possible.
