According to the Guangzhou Municipal Government, the "Two Streams and One River (Lubao Stream, Xinan Stream, Baini River)" project of the Beijiang River is going on very well and the main part of which will be completed by the end of this year.

In this way, the Beijiang River and the Pearl River (Guangzhou section) will join together in the coming year and bring 2.3 billion cubic meters of fresh water into Guangzhou.

Also, the largest artificial lake "Baiyun Lake" in Guangzhou Baiyun district will start construction later this year. Upon the completion, a whole water-directing system will be built up and the aquatic environment of the Shijing River Valley will be totally improved.
