Fire Breaks out at Textile Company in Panyu

A large fire broke out in a privately-owned textile company in Guangzhou's Panyu district at 1 AM on Nov 8.

The fire lasted for 6 hours, causing a 40-meter high pillar of smoke and two explosions. No deaths had been reported and the economic loss was estimated at over 10 million yuan.

Over 100 employees were on duty in the evening, luckily, all the employees were dinning at the canteen when the fire broke out and were able to flee from the fire.

19 fire engines were dispatched to put out the fire. One worker and one fireman were injured. The Fire Control House is still researching the reason behind the blaze. (By Fion)
