1 Million Books to Be Moved for Library Renovation

Yesterday, Zhongshan Library in downtown Guangzhou, Guangdong closed all its reading rooms and is about to move one million books to other locations in order to prepare for an upcoming large-scale renovation according to Guangzhou Daily.

After the renovation, which will be completed in 2010, the library will extend its capacity to eight million volumes.

Most of the present five million books will be kept in the library. The books to be moved include those that are relatively seldom used and the precious, like ancient classical books.

Zhongshan Library is the second largest and popular library in Guangzhou.
