Since the site of the Palace of the Nanyue Kingdom was officially opened on June 10, the number of daily visitors already exceeds its capacity of 100 per day. Every day, archaeologists rejoin valuable fragments of cultural relics and restore them on site, which is most interesting for visitors.
According to an experienced archaeologist who joined the excavation group more than 6 years ago, this site has been enlarged to over 11,300 square meters in the past 10 years. It's estimated there are more than 10 million fragments, dating from the Qin dynasty to modern times. "Our work is to do whatever we can to restore these precious relics," the archaeologist said.
After 10 years of hard work, nearly 20,000 cultural artifacts have been repaired successfully and if work continues at the same rate, up to 100,000 could be restored. That is to say, a small part of the world's largest "jigsaw puzzle" is now finished.
