Today's Pearl-river Crossing Rehearsal Canceled

Updated Beijing Time

Source: Southern Metropolis Daily

The rehearsal of today (July 5th) has been canceled because the temporary quay still has not been completed. A large scale rehearsal is scheduled for this Saturday (July 8th).

The crossing Pearl River swim is set to be held on 2:30 PM on July 12. Two thousand eligible Guangzhou citizens will participate in the event. The preparation work is now in the final stage.

The jumping-off point of crossing Pearl River swim is Sun Yat-Sen University temporary quay, and the end-point is Xinghai Concert Hall temporary quay.

Measured by GPS system, the distance of straight line between the two quays is 789 meters. However, the actual swimming distance is longer than 789m since the routine is not a straight line, according to Guangdong Astronomical Society.

The swim is an event to show the progress that the Pearl River pollution treatment program has made.
