After the Voluntary application, the activity of “10,000 people cross over the Pearl River” has come to the stage of screening test. Yesterday, the swimming test was held in Liwan and Haizhu District. Since the number of people who passed the test was exceeded, the two districts decided to raise the selection standard.

In Liwan District, 1,027 swimming athletes took part in the skill test yesterday and the passing rate was 98%. Since the number was far beyond the quota of 360, the final selection of competitors would be judged according to the screening scheme formulated by the government.

In Haizhu District, 80% of the 580 testees passed the skill test. Among them, the oldest is 78 years old and the youngest only 9 years old. The best record is 32 minutes for the 2000-metre swimming test.
