THE Guangdong University of Foreign Studies  (GDUFS), recently staged a "Panyu Yifa Western Languages Drama Night" at the Yunshan Conference Hall. Many classic figures from European fairy tales and works, such as the Little Prince, Snow White, Don Juan and The Fisherman and the Golden Fish, were seen on stage. Students from the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures of GDUFS used five European languages to fluently "challenge classics"; most of the students were freshmen with less than 9 months' study of the languages used.

Each of five departments of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures performed a European drama in the department's major language of study. The Little Prince was performed in French, Don Juan in Spanish, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs in German, The Fisherman and The Golden Fish in Russian, etc.

Among the guests at the performance were the Consuls and Cultural Secretaries of the French, Italian, German, and Mexican Consulates in Guangzhou and representatives of the French Union and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce. The guests were fulsome in their praises of the students for their excellent performances and for their proficiency in European languages.
