Another employee of Foxconn Technology Group, a unit of Taiwan electronics giant Hon Hai, has fallen to death. The incident happened on Thursday in south China's Guangdong Province, Shenzhen police said Friday.
The male employee fell from the fifth floor at Foxconn's Hualong base at around 9:30 p.m. and died before the ambulance arrived, said a witness who spoke in anonymity, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.
"Police are investigating the cause of death, and I do not know the details," said an official with the Baoan District Branch of the Public Security Bureau of Shenzhen City.
Foxconn employees confirmed the death and said they were "waiting for results from the investigation."
This is the second incident of its kind in 2010. Another Foxconn employee, Ma Xiangqian, 19, was found lying near the stairway of the company's dormitory in Guanlan town, Shenzhen, on Jan. 23. Police later confirmed that Ma died from falling.
Foxconn had offered a 500,000-yuan (73,219 U.S. dollars) reward for information about Ma's death, but no evidence was found suggesting foul play.
Ma's sister, Ma Hui, however, said she believed her brother died after being beaten, as she found big wounds on her brother's head and bloodstains around his mouth and nose.
In 2009, Sun Danyong of Foxconn, committed suicide on July 16, during an investigation into the loss of a prototype of Apple's iPhone.
Foxconn, set up in 1988, has more than 700,000 employees worldwide and is the foremost provider of joint-design, joint-development, manufacturing, assembly and after-sales services to global computer, communication and consumer-electronics companies.
