9 Die Falling from 23rd-floor Scaffold in S China

Nine people died and one was seriously injured after falling from a 23rd-floor scaffold on Saturday in south China's Guangdong Province.

The ten people were constructing a 34-story building on the scaffold when they fell at around 3:00 p.m. in Shenzhen City's Nanshan District, a spokesman with the municipal information office said.

The injured person, being treated in a local hospital, is in critical condition, he said.

The police were investigating the case, he added.
