Wang Yang, Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, will visit Southeast Asia with corporate delegates in September, said Mr. Alexandre - of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia Guangzhou - in an interview yesterday. The news has been confirmed by the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong.

Mr. Alexandre and the corporate delegation will visit Indonesia on a Southeast Asian tour, said Wang. He hopes that in the future Guangdong and Indonesia will have increased intercommunication and cooperation in key areas such as environmental protection.

The consul generals and official staff from more than 30 foreign consulates in Guangzhou began a four-city inspection tour of Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Huizhou on August 25th, aimed at acquiring a greater understanding of the significant changes brought by the reform and opening policy in Guangdong Province.

On August 27th the consulate officials visited Shenzhen, the third stop of their four-day East Pearl River Delta tour. Shenzhen was the first city in the People's Republic of China to open up to the world since the '70s. Next to Hong Kong, Shenzhen is well known for its high level of economic development.
