Storm Nuri Looms in the Pacific, Heat Lingers in Guangdong

During the day yesterday, under the influence of a gathering subtropical high, it was generally sunny or cloudy throughout most of Guangdong, with the west seeing some showers.

Temperatures rose to more than 35℃ in 29 counties and cities, mostly in the mid-northern area. The highest temperature of 36.9℃ was recorded in Lianzhou city.

Meanwhile, tropical storm Nuri (named by Malaysia) has gained strength as it moves closer to the northern Philippines. According to the meteorological department, Nuri will head northwestward over the next 24 hours as it approaches southeast Taiwan. It will not pose a threat to southeast China for two or three days.

In the next few days, under a subtropical high pressure ridge, conditions will be sunny or cloudy in most of Guangdong. From today until tomorrow, high temperatures in the province will be as follows:

North Guangdong : 35~37℃, partly 38℃
Middle Guangdong : 35~36℃, partly 37℃
Other cities: 33~35℃

From the 21st to 22nd, the majority of Guangdong will be sunny and hot.
