Bicycles Stolen to Finance Cyber Pursuits

Updated Beijing Time

Source: China Daily

A 16-year-old high school student surnamed Xie was instrumental in helping police find and detain the two men he suspected of stealing his bicycle. He spent two months tracking the thieves down in Maoming, Guangdong province.

Xie was robbed of his bike on his way to school two months ago.

He has since shadowed the two suspects in his spare time.

When they appeared in a local cyber cafe early this week, Xie immediately called the police, a move that led to the arrest of the two suspects.

The two men were actually hardened criminals, having committed nine robberies in the city since March. They stole and robbed bicycles from local students and sold them at low prices in order to pay for time spent in cyber cafes and restaurants.
