First Anti-Quake Building in China

The first anti-quake building in China was built in Shantou city, Guangdong, in 1993.


A gap larger than one finger between the house and floor.


The stairs on the bottom floor are separated from the ground, to help in a sudden quake.


The first rubber based anti-quake building stands in No. 38 Linghai Road, Shantou, Guangdong. It was built in 1993 and is also the first anti-quake building in China.

In May 1994, this building was praised as‘the third milestone in world’in anti-quake development by experts from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
