Nansha and GZ-ZH Railways to Link in Heshan City

Nansha development zone, a coastal district in Guangzhou City, is to build a 79.279 kilometer railway connecting Guangzhou-Zhuhai Railway. Nansha(南沙), Longxue(龙穴岛)and Wangqingsha(万顷沙) Islands, the three islands on Nansha District will be linked by the railway.

Communications Commission of Guangzhou Municipality yesterday (March 13) hosted an evaluation seminar on Nansha Railway in Guangzhou. 7 experts specializing in railway construction and city planning gave a construction plan. Heads of construction departments of Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan and Jiangmen cities attended the seminar.

According to the plan, an estimated 3.9 billion RMB will be invested in the railway. Nansha and Guangzhou-Zhuhai Railways will interchange at Heshan City, a prefecture-level city of Jiangmen City. The Nansha railway starts from Heshan, crosses Shunde and Zhongshan City, and ends in Guangzhou Nansha District.

Nansha is a main hub of Pearl River Delta and plays an important role in Guangdong's industry and logistics. The railway construction will bring great advances to the development of Nansha and Panyu Districts.
