Textile associations in Guangdong have drafted out a regulation to strengthen management over clothing quality in the wake of a report exposing quality problem in leisure wear sold in Guangzhou. The new regulation requires manufactures to send cloth samples for testing before production.
According to a report issued by the Guangzhou Industrial and Commercial Bureau, only 46 percent of the leisure wear sold in Guangzhou markets passed a quality test. International brands like Adidas, Nike, Esprit and Only met quality standards, but carcinogenic compounds called aromatic amines were detected in brands like Etam and Snoopy.
Some factories including Etam later promised that, if customers are not satisfied with the quality, they can return the products without having to show their receipts. (By Fion)
