Vice Premier Inspects Guangdong's Flood-affected Areas

Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu inspected Guangdong's flood-stricken areas from July 18th to 19th. The Vice Premier was delegated to the inspection by Chinese President Hu Jintao and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
Hui visited Guangdong's Lechang city on July 19th, the worst hit. Hui urged governments in the affected provinces to do their utmost to prevent the spread of diseases. He also called on officials to ensure that the displaced citizens were cared for, help them rebuild destroyed homes and assist farmers in replanting destroyed fields.
In addition, Zhang Dejiang, secretary of Guangdong CPC Committee, called on a donation campaign for the flood-stricken areas. The floods were estimated to have caused economic losses of 6 billion yuan (US$750 million) for Guangdong.
