Mr. Shen Kun, a collector from Taiwan, has agreed to place his collection of some 100 antique pianos made at least 100 years ago at the Shenzhen Piano Museum, which is planed to be built.

Mr. Shen has been collecting antique pianos for 30 years, with collection of more than 100. His biggest wish is to find a suitable place to permanently settle his collection. He finds more and more people like and learn playing piano in mainland China, where he believes his antique art instruments would be in most need and get much attention in cultural terms. The best way to home his pianos is a piano museum in China.

What make Shen Kun to choose Shenzhen are local government's plan to develop a Piano City, Shenzhen's piano population topping China and its trend of piano learning.

Mr. Shen had signed primary co-operation agreement with Shenzhen government. The Government is taking initiative efforts to prepare constructing the Piano Museum. Both sides have entered in discussion of details concerned. The basic scheme is expected to be worked out around this October 1st.

According to the mutual plan, an exposition of Mr. Shen's collection of 34 pianos will be staged by 2007 at the 300th anniversary of piano's invention. The construction of the Piano Museum will proceed in the meantime. Mr. Shen's whole collection of more than 100 pianos is to be moved in this "new home" after its completion.
