Yesterday for Gu Yuan Art Gallery, one of Guangdong Key Cultural Construction Projects, a foundation stone laying ceremony was held in Zhuhai of Guangdong province, the hometown of Gu Yuan, a famous contemporary Chinese master of prints and watercolor paintings.
The art gallery covers an area of 10,000 square meters with a planned investment of 50 million yuan (RMB). It will be integrated with local Shixi Carved Stones according to an overall planning and construction blueprint. Together they will be developed into a garden serving as a park combining historic sites, painting and calligraphy culture, horticultures, sight-seeing and leisure. It is planned to be finished and open to the public next year.
It is expected to be developed into a top domestic gallery of international level, and present world-class and high-level arts exhibitions to visitors.
