The Third PPRD Forum Kicks off

THE Third Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Regional Cooperation and Development Forum will open today (June 5, 2006) in Qujing, the headstream of Pear River in Yunnan Province.
Leading by Governor Huang Huahua, Guangdong delegation with 33 teams and a total of over 1500 people has arrived yesterday in Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province.
This session of the Forum will focus on the cooperation in the fields of transportation, energy resources and tourism in the PPRD region. And cooperation with ASEAN and South Asia will be further developed.
Cooperation with ASEAN will be further exploited in the Forum. Leaders of "9+2" will hold a talk with the Commercial Ministers of ASEAN countries that are attending the Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair this week.
The PPRD region, popularly known as "9+2", consists of nine provinces, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan, plus the two Special Administrative Regions Hong Kong and Macao.
The regional cooperation concept was launched in June 2004.
