HK Appoints 76 New Justices of Peace

This year's appointments of 76 Justices of the Peace of Hong Kong were gazetted on Wednesday.

Among them, 49 were appointed Non-official Justices of the Peace, and 27 appointed Official Justices of the Peace.

The main function of Justices of the Peace is to visit prisons, detention centers and other institutions to ensure their effective management and that no one is unfairly treated or deprived of his or her rights.

The Chief Executive may also require them to perform other duties.
