A 39-year-old businessman has been arrested for allegedly killing a female business associate in a dispute over HK0,000 and dumping her body off Kwun Tong pier.

The body has yet to be found, police said.
The suspect, identified only as Ng, and the victim, Wong, 36, both operated logistic companies and had done business with each other. New Territories North police superintendent Steve Li Wing-hong said Wong's family reported her missing on Sunday.
Her disappearance was initially classified as a missing person's case but police came to consider it unlikely for an adult to suddenly go missing. The case was then passed to the crime squad, which targeted the business partner as its prime suspect.
Officers arrested Ng near his Wong Chuk Hang company yesterday morning. Police said the suspect admitted he and the victim met to talk business there on August 1. A dispute over HK0,000 turned into a confrontation in which he allegedly hit her with a piece of wood.
Police also said he told them he wrapped the body in a black plastic bag after realizing she was dead.

They said he admitted driving the company van to Kwun Tong pier where he dumped the body and the piece of wood into the harbor. Police took the suspect to the pier and told them where he dropped the body.
More than 20 police divers searched in vain for the body from 2pm to 5pm. The pier has been cordoned off for more dives today.
The suspect was detained overnight.
