Florida-based Saint Leo University is moving ahead with plans to offer a masters in business administration program in Hong Kong now that it has received the blessing of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The regional accrediting body for Florida and 10 other southern states has officially approved the program, a partnership between Saint Leo and the Open Institute of International Education in Hong Kong.

The university looks forward to an increased presence in a fast growing region, MBA Director Robert Robertson said in a release.

The school hopes to enroll 15 to 20 working adults in Hong Kong to begin the part-time program in the fall with foundational courses and proceed to "cohort groups" designed to foster networking and study groups. Faculty will commute weekly from the university's main campus.

Saint Leo University, a Catholic university chartered in 1889 in the town of St. Leo, enrolls students at its main campus as well as through 16 regional education centers and its Center for Online Learning. The MBA program has more than 1,000 students enrolled worldwide.
