Macau-Guangxi Tourism Week Encourages Co-operation

The Fourth Macau-Guangxi Tourism Week yesterday kicked off at the Macau Tower, wherein the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Tam Pak Yuen signed the co-operation treaty with the delegation from Guanxi province.
With regards to the co-operation treaty, thirteen items including the agricultural industry, aquatic and livestock industry, manufactural industry, infrastructure and tourism services were subsequently incorporated into it. The amount of the investment reached US7 million which will all be invested by Macau business people.
During the session, Tam delivered an opening speech saying that the Tourism Week would help to boost mutual understanding of the two areas and that it would also propel the co-operation of both regions.
He also said in the opening ceremony that the economy in Macau was continuing to thrive under the support of the central and provincial governments which had led to production in 2007 reaching 1,536 million patacas, the actual increase being in double digits.
Tam continued that the unemployment rate remained low and the economy remained a sustainable growth as well. Therefore, the plan in the future would be to attempt to expand the facets of development while moderate adjustment will also be conducted.
Guo ShengKun, the Autonomous Regional committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region expressed that he hoped the co-operation within Macau and Guagxi province could be continually intensified in the near future in order to mutual compensate the shortcomings of each other. Likewise, he also encouraged Macau investors to invest in the Guangxi harbour construction in order to assist the economic development of the northern bay in Guangxi.
