Malaysia Airlines Restarts Flights to China's Macao

Updated Beijing Time

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) resumed its flights to Macao, China, on Saturday as its first flight left the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The Malaysia's national carrier will serve the Kuala Lumpur- Macao route with a frequency of four flights weekly.

The airlines opened its direct route to Macao on Nov. 9, 1995, but suspended it in March, 1998 due to low demand and non- profitability.

MAS Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Idris Jala said the resumption of Kuala Lumpur-Macao service would further strengthen MAS strategic presence in China.

Besides Macao, MAS now runs routes to other six cities in China, covering Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming and Xiamen, with 63 flights each week.
