Top 10 Cities for Pensioners in China Unveiled

Upon retirement, the standards for finding a suitable place to live change a lot. The level of health-care, the cost of living and the recreational environment will impact the choice much more.

Recently, a newspaper which specializes in investigation conducted a systematic evaluation on the top ten cities for pensioners in China. Chengdu, Kunming, Shanghai, Dalian, Haikou, Suzhou, Qingdao, Yantai, Zhuhai and Xiamen are all in the list.

 

 
Shanghai and Chengdu: Best health-care system

There are two critical problems for all pensioners, finance and psychological health. Upon retirement, incomes will decrease year by year and ill health will become a bigger problem. Meanwhile expenses in medical and health care will increase quickly.

Taking the level of medical care into account, Sanya, Guilin and other such fascinating tourist cities do not make the list. The average hospital bed number of the selected cities is more than 20,000 which means there are about 150 beds for every 10,000 people.

 

 
Haikou: freshest air, lowest house price

People's average life expectancy in the selected cities is 77. In comparison with China's nationwide average of 72, the data is enough to tell us how important the climate is to health.

Among all the selected cities, Haikou has the best climate with 85 percent excellent air quality days every year. The house price in Haikou is also the lowest among these 10 cities.
