Through his unique teapot, Wei Jianshe, a pottery artist from Xiguan - the womb of Lingnan culture in Guangzhou - welcomes the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympics in his own special way.
The elliptic-cylinder-shaped pot is 23 cm high, 12 cm in width and 12 cm in length. As an embodiment of the auspicious ideas of the Beijing Olympics, the pot is double-layered, with the purple clay body surrounded by the Bird Nest's exterior.
The five rings on the lid and the torch-like spout represent the Olympics while the dragon-featured handle conveys Wei's pride as a Chinese citizen.
Wei said that, including the concept and design, it took him five months to finish this work of art.
