Young Girl's Composure Stifles Cat Burglar's MO

A cat burglar was detained thanks to a girl who remained remarkably calm and polite when the intruder suddenly appeared on her balcony in Shenzhen special economic zone, Guangdong province, on Monday.

The felon, surnamed Chen, was the one who got the shock when he climbed onto the balcony of a 15th-floor apartment where teenager Jia Yue was at home alone in the city's Nanshan district about 9:30 pm.

"What can I do for you, uncle," she asked Chen.

Chen then fled back over the balcony thinking an adult must have been present because the girl had remained so calm.

Jia quickly reported the incident to the housing estate's security guards, who sought police help.

Their investigation revealed Chen had stolen more than 10,000 yuan ($1,470) worth of property from an apartment on the building's 19th floor.
