Mao Tse Dong (1693-1976), stvied Runzhi, was born in Xiangtan, Hunan province. In 1913. he entered the Hunan First Normal School. In April 1918, he organized a revolutionary youth club called the "Qinmin Society". Around the May 4 Movement Mao began to study and accept Marxism. He started a magazine "Jiangjiang Review", and directed patriotic student movements. In 1920, he set up the "Changsha Socialist Youth League".
In July 1921, Mao as a representative of the Hunan Communist Group attended the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China. In 1923, he was elected secretary of the Party's Central Executive Committee. After the Nationalist Party and the Communist Party began cooperation in 1924, Mao was elected an alternate member of the Central Executive Committee in the First and Second JQ National Congress of the Nationalist Party. He was the acting head of the central propaganda department of the Nationalist Party and the chief editor of the "Politics and Law Weekly". He sponsored the workshop of "The training institute for the peasant movement".
In 1926. Mao took the position of secretary of the peasant movement Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
After the violent repression by conservative Nationalist factions against labor unions in Shanghai broke out in April 12 1927, Mao organized the "Autumn Harvest Uprising" in the border region between Hunan and Jiangxi and led the uprising troops to the Jinggang Mountains, where he founded the first countryside revolutionary base. After Zhu De's uprising troops arrived, the Fourth Army of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army was established. Mao was the Political Commender and the secretary of the Field Committee.
In 1931. Mao was elected chairman of the Soviet Republic of China and in January 1934, member of the Central Political Bureau of the Communist Party. In January 1935, he was elected member of the standing Committee of the Political Bureau in the Zunyi Conference. Soon a three- person leading group. Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and Wang Jiaxiang, was set up during the Long March by which Mao's leading role in the Red Army and the Party was established. In October. the Red Army arrived in northern Shanxi. In December, Mao was elected chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Party. In March, 1943, he was elected chairman of the Central Political Bureau and secretary of Central Secretariat of the Party.
From then on, in all the subsequent elections of the Communist Party Central Committee, Mao was elected chairman of the Central Committee and chairman of the Political Bureau. In the First Plenary Session of the First Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in September 1949 and in the First Plenary Session of the First National People's Congress, he was twice elected as chairman of the People's Republic of China. In December 1954. he was elected as honorary chairman of the CPPCC in the Second Plenary Session of the CPPCC. He died of disease in September 9 1976.
