Where to Get Wireless Internet in GZ

Updated Beijing Time

It is not difficult to get wireless internet access in Guangzhou, as the network infrastructure and services are well-developed. Moreover, the city is gearing up to implement a citywide free wireless connection by the 16th Asian Games in November, 2010.

For the time being, the most convenient method is to connect at some of the following places via the WLAN network, if your computer or PDA is equipped with a WLAN card:

1. Various restaurants and lounges, including Starbucks, McDonald's, Greenery Café and Café de Coral; and

2. Airports, upscale hotels, convention centers and business centers that travelers frequent.

If you are looking to set up long-term access you can try the monthly package services offered by China Mobile, China Unicom or China Telecom.

Their monthly charges range from RMB 80 to 200 (11.7 to 29.3 USD).

The packages include various numbers of internet connection hours, along with the needed card device (free of charge if you sign a year-long contract). Any extra hours are charged additionally at reasonable rates.

China Mobile's service and network are relatively the most sophisticated, but its prices are a bit higher than the other two competitors.

China Telecom, with its Tianyi service package, is a newcomer to the wireless market.
