You can go to the Coach Station near Guangzhou Railway Station. Ticket for each is about 55 yuan and it takes you about 2 hours (or more) to get to the Taishan Bus Terminal.

Renting a mini-van is the most convenient way of course. But if you want to take the fee into consideration, you can figure out which one is the better budget. I am not sure the money for renting a van.
