The last Airport Bus from Guangzhou Baiyun airport to Zhongshan will start at 8 pm. i am afraid you will miss it.

for the public transportation, you can take a taxi to go to Zhongshan, but it will be very expensive, also maybe not so safe..

or you can take the airport bus to downtown Guangzhou, stay in a hotel for a night. then go the Zhongshan the next day by bus from the Guangzhou Passenger Station (near the Guangzhou Railway Station).
