The white path led the way for an old man loosing his sight
An old two-story Lingnan-style villa located at the heart of Sun Yat-sen University has recently opened to the public. It previously belonged to Tchen Yin-koh (1890 – 1969), a famous Chinese historian and expert in classical literature and linguistics. In 1949, he was appointed professor at the Guangzhou Lingnan University which later became "Sun Yat-sen University."

After a full renovation and redecoration, the house has reopened and displays original furniture, old photos and big dusty books, all there to present and commemorate the life and work of this great man.
According to the daughter of Tchen, although her father was almost blind when he moved into this residence in 1952, he managed to accomplish important academic work such as the Supplementary Biography of Liu Rushi (《柳如是别传》). In the last days of his life when his was paralyzed, Tchen never abandoned his life-long relationship with the world of ideas and when he was struck by an important thought, would let no one sleep until it was written down.
