GD’s Highest Temple: Dongyue Imperial Palace

Updated Beijing Time

Located at the top of Dongyue Mountain, Lianzhou of Qingyuan, Dongyue Imperial Palace (东岳行宫) is the highest temple in Guangdong, perched at 1452 meters! Recently listed as one of the 10 New Discoveries and now a hot spot for climbing, the temple was previously built as a dwelling place for Emperor Jianwen during the Ming Dynasty. According to experts, three temples in the palace are valuable cultural heritages and “there is still more that needs to be studied” as the site probably holds many hidden treasures.
