A former traditional Lingnan building from the 1940's has been transformed into a lifestyle house incorporating fashion, art and travel concepts. Located at 225 Beijing Road, this traditional and modern combined house is now another landscape for locals and visitors to appreciate more about Guangzhou, free of charge.
60 years fashion extends
In the Han Dynasty, No. 225 Beijing Road was the site of the 'Guangzhou South Gate' for foreign trade.
In 1949, the house owner Mr. Yu designed and built this five-floor building, and attracted such tenants as the 'Hengmei Gold Shop,' 'Banshi photo studio' (the former of famous 'Yanfang photo studio').

In the old times, taking photos was an experience of fashion. After 60 years, the building now has a greenhouse garden, flower shop, art space, travel theme floor, Benshop, outdoor café, etc. Once again it expresses 'fashion as lifestyle.'
The Consul General of Switzerland in Guangzhou Mr. Werner E. Nievergelt told the reporter, "I like this traditional building with new things. Each floor has a different function. There is past life in the building and now present life of Guangzhou."

Understand meaning of travel in city center
Fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen once said, "To travel is to live." The fourth floor of the building has a travel theme exhibition, travel video room, travel books reading room, etc. From Dubai, Stockholm, Copenhagen, to Hawaii, Tokyo - you can experience the 19 stops that Goelia has visited.

The designer of the building Mr. Ben Lee said, "Travel is bi-directional. No. 225 let locals experience a touch of foreign culture, and allows visitors to know more about Guangzhou city through Manchuria windows, a fresco, and iron door from this old district."
A peaceful oasis on frenzied Beijing Road
The third floor of No. 225 is an art space. For the following two months, Swiss Designer Ms. Esther Brinkmann's jewelries will be shown here. Esther told the reporter, "The exhibition in a commercial street can attract more young people to join. In Switzerland, many art galleries are in commercial districts."
