(NEW YORK) Celebrated Chinese fashion house Cabbeen will mark its official U.S. launch with a men's Fall/Winter 2007 collection that will debut on February 3 with a runway show at the Bryant Park Tents during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The brand, which originated in the late 1980s and is the brainchild of a 35-year-old designer known simply as Mr. Cabbeen, has enjoyed a near cult following in its native China. "There is no age limit to looking good," Mr. Cabbeen said, referring to his young, vibrant, and colorful designs-think Diesel meets American Eagle-that are hooked to the premise that they allow young men to "revolt" against traditional dress.

Cabbeen became a staple of men's fashion in China in the casual/urban category. Today the company, which is based in south China's Guangzhou, has over 300 stores throughout the mainland and plans to launch retail stores in the U.S. The collection, which is targeted at an upscale urban professional in his 20s and 30s includes suits, blazers, coats, shirts, t-shirts, and jeans.

For his Fall 2007 collection, Mr. Cabbeen will show a collection that features simple clean cut clothes in a low-key palette of black, white, and grey complimented with deep reds and yellows flattering the occasional flash of dense traditional embroideries, a reference to ancient artisan customs.

"The Chinese are often viewed as somewhat stiff and conservative, and I'm always trying to relax that idea and produce collections that do not try too hard, is not revolutionary, just an easy-to-wear, easy-to-mix silhouette," Mr. Cabbeen added. Now New York and the World will get a chance to see for themselves first hand what all the hype is truly about.
