Maojia (Mao's) Restaurants are local favorites for strong-flavored Hunan dishes. Its branches in Tianhe Bei Lu and Long Kou Xi Lu both in Tianhe District are the best-received.

Its cooking is above run of the mill and somewhat customized to Cantonese taste, a bit softer than the original Huananese flavor.

Maojia Hongshao Rou (Mao's Braised Pork) is the top must to try here, fatty, delicious and not greasy. Other appetizing food includes Duojiao Yutou (Fish Heads with Chili), Dungu Tang (Stewed Bone Soup) and Chao Hexia (Fried Shrimps).

The price is reasonable. The average cost is ￥50 (US.6) per person.

It is hard to find vacancies for lunch on weekdays at its Tianhe Bei Lu Branch. The service is only average, worse than its delicacies.
