A project named "The Memory of Guangzhou City" has been in operation since 2003. Within five years the project has collected various historical documents and relics from Guangzhou. The oldest collection, "Maps of Guangzhou", dates back to 1406, from the Ming Dynasty.

The project was initiated by the Bureau of Urban Planning of Guangzhou Municipality, and is carried out by the Guangzhou Urban Development Archives. Its primary goal is to encourage people to donate or sell any historical relics they might have. The relics can include art works such as photographs, paintings, maps and literature - anything that depict the old Guangzhou. They can also be antiques such as furniture, architecture, musical instruments and even clothes.
Though many of these collections are not as costly as those in a museum, they definitely play an important part in the remembrance of Guangzhou's development.
All the collections will be displayed in an exhibition hall for Guangzhou Urban Planning. These days, with the city changing day by day, this project is beneficial to us as well as future generations. If you have any items of historical significance, please do not hesitate to call us at 020-83192497.
