Ju Chao(居巢) and Ju Lian(居廉), two outstanding figures of flower-and-bird paintings in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), enjoyed great fame in the history of painting in Guangdong Province or even all over China. Due to their close relationship with the founders of paintings of Lingnan style: Gao Jianfu, Gao Qifeng and Chen Shuren, the two were renowned as pioneers of the Lingnan School of Painting.
This show will present 294 works by Ju Chao and Ju Lian, chosen from the over 3,000 paintings stored in the Guangzhou Museum of Art, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Guangdong Museum, Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Lingnan Memorial Museum of Paintings, and the Dongguan and Keyuan Museums in Dongguan. It was said to be the first time for visitors to enjoy such a great number of classic works selected from a large range of works by Ju Chao and Ju Lian. (english.gz.gov.cn)
