Dongping Daya is one of the oldest pawnshops in Guangzhou and the only one in Chinese mainland to have been turned into a museum. This "pawnshop museum" is located in a "Diaolou", a 400 square-meter old traditional watch tower made from bricks and timber.

Three stories is opened to visitors with the first floor exhibiting a replica of a pawnshop from the early Qing Dynasty; the second floor displaying historical pictures and documents; the third one for the development and reform of the pawn business in modern times.
