Situated in the downtown Dongshankou, Leona Craig Art Gallery is deeply hidden in an undiscovered, yet utterly hip part of town, in old Guangzhou. The neighborhood was originally built up by Baptists and Overseas Chinese in the early twentieth century. While others open galleries in the new hot art districts, Leona Craig Art has quietly taken up residence in this hidden jewel of a district.

Craig Mattoli, the curator of the collection and the head of international sales, was a collector of things when only six years old. Having been involved with arts and artists as a Wall Street executive in the 1980's, he had the opportunity to collect and trade extensively in 18th, 19th, and 20th century American and European art and antiques. Mattoli began collecting Chinese art when he came to China five years ago. The development of the art markets in China is still in a very early stage. Over the course of his stay in China, he gradually began a business trading in various forms of Chinese art.

For the past several years, his Leona Craig Art business has been selling Chinese art around the world. Now, he created this adorable local gallery, which will offer people an opportunity to experience modern oil paintings, sculpture, hand-embroidered pictures, and teapot art.
