The four-person band are, Maya (Vocalist), Ivan Katz (Drums), Bruce Mack (keyboards), Chiristian Ver Halen (Guitar), and they made stops in Beijing, Shenyang, Guagnzhou, Kunming, and Hangzhou, to heat up Chinese music fans for the very first time.

Multi-cultures bring different genres of music together

With musical influences ranging from Earth Wind & Fire to Ella Fitzgerald, Maya Azucena fuse the genres of soul, Hip Hop, world and funk music, blues, jazz, R&B, and Reggae. “There is so much culture everywhere in New York City. We are surrounded and influenced by different cultures, so for me it’s easy to blend different music together,” said Maya, the vocalist.

Being honest to make music

Their music could be described simply as ‘Soul music’, meaning that the music comes from the heart. They make and perform music honestly. “Music is a universal language. We just do what we do, and perform the same music everywhere. We can connect to people through music.” The band don’t judge the audience or ask ‘Do they understand?’, but they generate love as they perform, and end up receiving love from the audience. “People can feel the spirit of the music, even if they don’t understand specific words. “

Some pop musicians in America create music just to sell music and make money. Maya expresses, “For me, making music is about reflecting on life’s struggles and what brings you through, the celebration, faith and hope,”

Chinese music fans go from quiet to crazy

The band had fun during their performances in China. At the beginning, the audiences were quiet and just clapping. But at the end everybody just went crazy. During the tour, they invited the audiences to join them onstage which can easily drive audiences crazy.
