The Teardrop

Choreographer/Dancer: Wang Qi

There was once a woman, a snake spirit with thousand-year of ascetic practice, determined to be a celestial being.

A thousand-year of ascetic practice had made her more beautiful than any other woman in the world. Her only blemish was that she had no tears, and without these she could not become a celestial being. Taking Kwanyin's hint, she went into the world of men to collect eight tear drops signifying birth and old age, sickness and death, love and hate, and separation and departure.

Seeing no escape from her fate, she disregarded the consequences and fell in love with a human, voluntarily entering the Leifeng Pagoda. On her departure, she shed her first and last tear drop. She had loved him her whole life, and thus this drop represented "love". She was buried in the Leifeng Pagoda, to be set free only if the waters of West Lake dried up, or the pagoda tumbled.

Seven hundred years later, the Leifeng Pagoda collapsed...All the emotions she has reserved; her gracious gestures, and her fascinating expressions, will immerse you in her beauty and pureness.

Position

Created by Zhao Yi

In order to survive within a limited space, everyone tries to grasp the largest benefits for themselves, ignoring others. Violence and lies are generated from that desire. When a piece of bread is put in front of three starving men, the story begins.

Por El Solo

Created/performed by Samuel Morales Abarza

This is the story of a human who exceeds his limits.
He becomes something inexplicable.
He is guided by life's voice, urged to take chances and seize the present.
Following this path, he meets different people who tell him of their emotions,
Finally, this cry is suspended in space, as a trace in the air, as a trace in history..

Rhapsody of Sculpture

Created by TANZ studio
Performed by Zhang Zhifeng and Li Ling

How can you predict in what direction change will occur? Here, you may find hints in every aspect. Set free your imagination.

Fairy Land in the City

Choreographed by Zhao Xiaogang , Zhang Yunfeng

The choreographers take a shuttle through the city's underground, producing a performance inspired by people's mutual collisions and understandings within small spaces; showing the emotional rhythms of ordinary citizens and their attempts to find a small piece of fairy land in the concrete jungle.

Note: Longer version of Fairy Land in the City is going to put on in Guangdong Song & Dance Theatre at 2:30p.m. and 7:30p.m. on August 1.
