Conceived as a trilogy, Other Suns is a cross-cultural work being developed by choreographer Margaret Jenkins and her Company from San Francisco, USA in collaboration with the Guangdong Modern Dance Company (GMDC) of Guangzhou, China. The first part of this trilogy was completed and performed by the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company (MJDC) in December 2007, and will be reprised here in the first part of the program. For the last five weeks, the MJDC has been in residence with the GMDC, collaborating on the choreography for the newest installment of Other Suns , which will be performed tonight by both companies. The final chapter will be developed in 2009, and the entire trilogy will premiere in September 2009 in San Francisco, California before embarking on a tour of the United States.
